Berangkat dari keprihatinan saya terhadap banyaknya gambaran buruk mengenai Islam karena minimnya pengetahuan yang benar tentang agama ini di kalangan non muslim, maka saya tergerak untuk membagikan informasi ini kepada anda semua, untuk mempelajari ajaran Islam dari sumbernya langsung. Memilih buku yang benar adalah sangat penting untuk mendapatkan gambaran Islam secara benar dan akurat. Banyak orang salah paham terhadap Islam dan Muslim karena gambaran negatif media massa (terutama media barat), termasuk internet, yang disebabkan oleh minimnya pengetahuan yang benar tentang ajaran agama ini secara keseluruhan. Download, lalu bacalah dulu, putuskan kemudian.
Jadi jangan belajar Islam hanya dari apa yang orang lain katakan atau sekedar mendengar dari pemberitaan TV, majalah, koran, film-film, dan media lain. Sebagai contoh, banyak film-film Hollywood yang penuh dengan propaganda agar orang membenci Islam dan Muslim, di mana kaum muslim digambarkan sebagai kaum yang bodoh, primitif, pengecut, pembunuh, penyembah kotak hitam, sehari lima kali mencium tanah sebagai ritual, penyembah muhammad, dan sebagainya yang jauh dari kebenaran. Islam, menurut beberapa literatur dan media barat, tak lebih dari sekedar agama milik kaum bidat yang mengajarkan terorisme. Islam tidaklah seperti itu. Sekali lagi, belajarlah dari sumbernya langsung : Al-Qur'an dan Sunnah Nabi, termasuk Hadist Qudsi dan lain-lain.
Tentang Islam, mengapa kita harus memilih buku yang benar sebagai sumber informasi ? Ya, karena ada juga buku yang isinya tidak benar dalam menggambarkan agama ini. Terjemahan Al-Qur'an misalnya, ada yang benar dan ada yang tidak. Yang benar adalah seperti (misalnya, terjemahan dalam Bhs Inggris oleh Abdullah Yusuf Ali, Muhammad Asad) tersebut di bawah ini, sedangkan yang tidak sangat banyak. Sekedar menyebut satu contoh, ada terjemahan (dalam Bhs Inggris) oleh Arthur J. Arberry, adalah terjemahan yang menurut kaum Muslim tidak bagus. Di internet bahkan ada Al-Qur'an palsu. Jadi berhati-hatilah.
Kemudian sejarah Nabi Muhammad SAW, juga ada yang ditulis dengan jujur, benar, dan akurat namun jauh lebih banyak yang tidak. Beberapa biografi Nabi Muhammad SAW yang isinya bisa dipertanggungjawabkan kebenarannya adalah karya Martin Lings (anda bisa download gratis di halaman ini), Hussein Haykal, dan Ibn Hisham. Namun ada juga biografi tentang kehidupan Nabi Muhammad yang betul-betul tidak layak baca, yang ditulis secara tidak jujur, sembrono, dan isinya 100 % fitnah belaka. Sekedar menyebutkan beberapa, contoh penulisnya adalah Nicolas de Cuse, Vives, Maracci, Hottinger, Bibliander, Prideaux, dan masih banyak lagi. Ada yang berusaha obyektif dalam menulis sejarah nabi Muhammad, misalnya Karen Amstrong, namun menurut saya tidak cukup memadai. Jika ada penulis yang membahas tentang rasa pedas cabe namun ia sendiri seumur hidup belum pernah makan cabe, maka betapapun ia berusaha obyektif, tetaplah tak memadai. Seperti itulah karya Karen Amstrong menurut saya.
